{"id":314,"date":"2012-05-03T17:33:10","date_gmt":"2012-05-03T23:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ivanhoe142.org\/wordpress\/?p=314"},"modified":"2019-01-03T11:58:53","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T18:58:53","slug":"introduction-to-the-kybalion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ivanhoe142.ca\/wordpress\/introduction-to-the-kybalion\/","title":{"rendered":"Introduction to the Kybalion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/1\/1c\/Kybalion_Book_Cover.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"332\" \/>Tonight at our May 3rd regular meeting, tyling at 7:30pm, our Senior Warden will be giving a talk on the Introduction to the Kybalion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy<\/strong><span> is a 1908 book claiming to be the essence of the teachings of <\/span><a title=\"Hermes Trismegistus\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hermes_Trismegistus\">Hermes Trismegistus<\/a><span>, published anonymously by a group or person under the pseudonym of &#8220;the Three Initiates&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Kybalion<\/em> was first published in 1908 by the Yogi Publication Society and is now in the\u00a0<a title=\"Public domain\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Public_domain\">public domain<\/a>, and can be found on the internet. The book purports to be based upon ancient\u00a0<a title=\"Hermeticism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hermeticism\">Hermeticism<\/a>, though many of its ideas are relatively modern concepts arising from the\u00a0<a title=\"New Thought\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Thought\">New Thought<\/a> movement. The book itself early in reading makes the claim that it makes its appearance in one&#8217;s life when the time is appropriate and includes variations of material found in the book of Proverbs.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Mental_Transmutation\" class=\"mw-headline\">Mental Transmutation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Mind\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mind\">Mental<\/a> Transmutation (also described as Mental Alchemy, the Art of Mental Chemistry, and the Art of Polarization) refers to the art of changing and transforming one&#8217;s own mental states and conditions, as well as influencing those of others.
